Basic Skills & Weapon Attacks
The most frequently used attacks and movement tools: primary weapon fire, reload, melee, dash, and sprint.
What are Basic Skills?
In Deadlock, "basic skills" mainly refer to a hero's primary weapon attack (left click) and movement actions (dash, slide, zipline, double jump, melee V). Heroes vary wildly: Abrams wields a high-spread shotgun, Vindicta a bolt-action sniper, Haze a rapid SMG, and Seven a burst energy weapon. Damage, fire rate, magazine, and headshot multiplier scale with items and levels.
Mechanics
Primary fire: left-click shooting. Damage scales with Weapon/Bullet Damage; headshots usually have a multiplier.
Weapon types: shotguns, snipers, SMGs, pistols, burst rifles, melee gauntlets — each has a different effective range.
Reload (R): most weapons need manual or auto reload; heroes like Haze and Bebop reward good magazine management.
Dash (Shift): consumes stamina and can be chained into slides or jumps for "Dash-Jump" mobility.
Slide (Ctrl while sprinting): lowers hitbox and keeps momentum, great for dodging and chasing.
Zipline (Space): overhead lines enable fast rotations; you can dismount or re-attach mid-air.
Melee / Parry (V / F): melee breaks objects; a successful parry stuns an enemy melee attacker.
Hero Examples
Abrams — Shotgun Close-Range Pressure
Tank / Brawler
Abrams' shotgun deals more damage the closer he is. After closing with Shoulder Charge (1), a point-blank primary-fire burst can delete squishy targets. His core loop is dash/slide in, then shotgun.
Vindicta — Bolt-Action Sniper Poke
Marksman / Assassin
Vindicta's bolt-action sniper hits hard but fires slowly. Her Flight (2) lets her hover for bonus damage, enabling "hover + left-click" poke from rooftops or ziplines.
Haze — SMG Sustained Fire
Assassin
Haze uses a rapid SMG. Her passive Fixation (3) stacks bonus damage per bullet, and Smoke Bomb (2) lets her flank unseen before unloading her primary fire.
Seven — Burst Energy Weapon
Mage
Seven's primary is a three-round burst energy rifle. Power Surge (3) causes bullets to bounce between enemies, synergizing with Lightning Ball (1) for area chain damage.
Tips
- •Respect each weapon's ideal range: shotguns point-blank, snipers long, SMGs close-mid, burst rifles mid-long.
- •Keep moving while shooting; Deadlock heroes are mobile and standing still makes you an easy target.
- •Use Dash-Jump (Shift + Space) to clear gaps or escape; dashes cost stamina, not mana.
- •Ziplines are not just rotation tools — they also provide sniping angles and escape routes.
- •Melee (V) breaks boxes and statues for bonus souls; early economy matters.
