The Direct Answer
Seven needs a place where he can see the fight, keep a retreat route, and force enemies to respect an area. Choose that space before the fight, then move only when the enemy closes the route or your team changes targets. Casting from the first visible spot often turns useful area pressure into a forced retreat.
When This Works
Use this when your team expects a grouped fight, a defensive hold, or a push through a narrow approach. The Seven teamfight guide covers his broader job; this page focuses only on protecting the space needed to perform it.
When Not to Use
Do not anchor to one position when the objective has moved, your teammates have already disengaged, or the enemy has a clear flank. Space is a tool, not a promise to stand still.
Positioning Process
- Mark the area your team wants to defend or cross.
- Choose a casting spot with cover on one side and a visible escape path on the other.
- Place your first pressure where it slows the enemy's approach, not where it only hits a target already leaving.
- Keep a teammate between you and the fastest diver when possible.
- Relocate when the enemy reaches your cover, your team retreats, or the fight moves outside your useful area.
Space Table
| Fight shape | Seven's space | Priority |
|---|---|---|
| Enemy must enter through one route | Behind the team with a side escape | Deny the approach and keep casting |
| Your team is defending a retreat | Near the exit, not at the front | Buy time for allies to leave |
| Enemy flank is missing from vision | Closer to cover and teammates | Survive the reveal before committing |
| Your team has already won the area | Move with the next objective | Do not keep casting into empty space |
Common Mistakes
- Standing in front because the ability reaches far enough.
- Using all pressure before the enemy commits to the route.
- Ignoring a missing flank and assuming the front is the only threat.
- Continuing to cast after the team has moved away.
