The Short Answer

When Haze is under lane pressure, stop trying to win every trade. Protect guaranteed souls, use cover to limit free damage, and trade only when the opponent has stepped into a range you can leave safely. The goal is to reach the next useful purchase and objective with enough health, information, and time to matter.

When This Works

Use this plan against stronger early pressure, ranged poke, or a lane where the opponent punishes every open path. It is also the right baseline for learning Haze because it builds the habits that let you use Smoke Bomb as a choice rather than an emergency button. See the Haze profile for her role and the farming guide for the wider economy plan.

When Not to Use This Approach

Do not become so passive that you surrender every wave or ignore a nearby objective your team can clearly win. When the enemy has spent key cooldowns or moved away from the wave, use the window. The rule is safe value, not permanent retreat.

Steps

  • Stand where cover lets you collect value without taking a full trade.
  • Check the minimap between waves before moving for extra resources.
  • Trade only after the opponent exposes themselves or misses a key threat.
  • Reset and spend souls before low health turns into a predictable death.

Use maps to plan the route away from a pressured lane. A safe route toward teammates is worth more than a greedy detour that leaves Haze alone.

Common Mistakes

  • Fighting in the open after losing health.
  • Using Smoke Bomb to rescue a trade that should never have started.
  • Leaving a safe wave for an unclear skirmish.
  • Waiting too long to reset and spend souls.
